 I'm Jennifer Cheng, a British born Chinese from Gateshead, North East.

From as early as I can remember I have always loved art, drawing, anything creative. I remember when I was a kid every year for Christmas I would get a new art set as that was always at the top of my Christmas wish list. Art sets in those wooden cases was just my absolute prized possession back then, now it's my little portrait business. My love for portrait drawing started in my early teens, I would draw portrait gifts for my family and friends. To see their faces lit up with joy when they received my portraits just gave me so much happiness.

I studied graphic design throughout college and graduated with a BA Hons degree in graphic design at Sunderland University. From there I worked in many jobs before landing a job in graphic design. Whilst working as a full time graphic designer I started a side hustle of something I loved doing and that's when Pencil to Portrait was born. I reignited my love for drawing portraits and decided to quit my graphic design job and pursue this full time. It has been tough at times but it gives me so much joy and abundance to be able to do what I love and pursue my dreams... and that is what keeps me going.

I specialise in realistic style portraits, capturing every little detail drawn from your photos.  I also do caricature portraits, which I later discovered a love for during this venture and developed my own style of caricature portraits and custom gifts.
